Lead Pastor: Rev. Dr. Katie Nix
Rev. Dr. Katie Nix, or Pastor Katie as most of us call her, is our lead pastor. A proud St. Louis native (Hazelwood Central High School), Pastor Katie has a heart for bringing the message of God's love to the neighborhood and to young families in our community. She received her Master's from Princeton Theological Seminary and her Doctorate in Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. Always seen with a Dr. Pepper, Pastor Katie brings energy and excitement to the mission at Grace UMC. Best of all, she has a Harry Potter scar on her forehead, but because of her red hair she is often mistaken for a Weasley. And in a true twist of irony, she is proud to be part of the Slytherin House! (If this last statement is confusing, you may want to check out the Harry Potter series at your local library.)
Pastor Katie's Life Verse: Luke 1:46-47
"My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior."
College Minister: Pastor Tina Reyes (she/her/ella)
Pastor Tina Reyes is our college/young professional pastor and pastor of LuMin Campus Ministry. Pastor Tina is a native Wisconsinite who has lived up and down the East Coast over the last 20 years. Prior to ministry, Pastor Tina worked in restaurants, as a flight attendant, an online school web page editor, tour guide, program instructor, and director of student ministries. While teaching middle school in Virginia, Pastor Tina answered the call to ministry and attended the Lutheran School of Theology in Philadelphia, where she graduated with her Master of Divinity in 2012. Pastor Tina was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Prior to moving to St. Louis, Pastor Tina served a congregation in New Jersey. Pastor Tina’s faith journey is grounded in her baptismal affirmation, especially striving for peace and justice. When she’s not meeting and engaging folks in faith and life, Pastor Tina enjoys cooking, reading, crafting, and birding. Pastor Tina also enjoys singing with ensemble groups and attending concerts and theater events. She looks forward to all the opportunities that St. Louis has to offer.
Pastor Tina's Favorite (Confirmation) Verse: Joshua 1:9 (NRSV)
"Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
